New Look, new content, new … everything

Hi! You've stumbled upon a blog post by a guy named Ryan. I'm not that guy anymore, but I've left his posts around because cool URIs don't change and to remind me how much I've learned and grown over time.
Ryan was a well-meaning but naïve and priviledged person. His views don't necessarily represent the views of anyone.
In May of this year I made myself a promise. I looked at my schedule, at my web site, and at my my life in general and realized I needed a change. Since beginning grad school I had been running on fumes. my whole life seemed fifteen minutes later than the rest of the world. I stopped blogging, stopped experimenting and stopped learning how to improve my craft.
This redesign is my shot in the arm.
This design, codenamed “Roland”, it is a commitment to my work and to helping share my experience. Any success I've had in this medium has been achieved by standing on the shoulders of giants. Now is (hopefully) my turn to reciprocate.
My immediate apologies if I have broken anything. Please contact me if you notice something amiss. I've tested as much as I can—the time for procrastination is done.
