ÖDYSSEY SwimRun Casco Bay (2023)

This race was a bit of a disaster, the gorgeous weather the day before turning into pea soup fog on race day.

Despite the cold and wet, and lack of visibility that was incredibly unsafe in the busy bay, Ödyssey put on an amazing race with what they had. The race had two parts, with the "official" part being a final loop of a single small island, running through overgrown muddy trails and trying to make the best of things.

The first half of the race was my favorite. Despite the fog we got in two cool swims (technically three, but the third swim was a sea floor run due to the tides). Strong cross-current made sighting and strategy as important as endurance.

My partner pushed my pace hard, but team Avöcadö Töast came away with a good experience and some ÖTILLÖ points despite the challenges.
